InkLink Chapter 1.5 : After Dark
Hi everyone!
Last Saturday (8th February 2025), the InkLink team and I hosted our second official event; Chapter 1.5 - After Dark. This event was a follow up from our previous one, still continuing on with the theme of ‘building tension’ but rather with a specific focus on the spice/smut element of literature (if you don’t know what that means and choose to look it up, take this as my 18+ warning).
With two new members in the team, we all worked super hard behind the scenes, from booking the venue (which ended up being a cool studio space in Kentish Town), to buying decorations and to securing our amazing panel; T.S. Reed, Penelope Coggins, Ella Davoine and Jenna Wolfhart made up the ‘author’ part of our speakers, but we also had a talk from Abby Eve, a proofreader and copy editor, who specialises in spicy scenes. Each of our authors read out an extract from their novel and gave some invaluable insight into their unique journeys as writers, including advice for aspiring authors, especially those who are interested in writing adult scenes. Abby also gave us some knowledge on common mistakes authors make when submitting manuscripts for the first time, as well as how to best constructively critique work.
After the panel was of course a Q&A opportunity, and the chance for the audience members to speak with our panelists directly, ask any other questions they had, and also purchase signed copies of the author’s books (all of which can be seen below).
After the many mandatory photos and videos we took all together, the InkLink team and the panelists then headed to a bar for a well-deserved drink (or in my case cocktail teapot!).
It was truly an amazing day, and I want to thank the whole InkLink team - the success of the event was a testament to everyone’s hard work and dedication! And of course a massive round of applause for the fab panelists, you have all achieved so much and as an author myself it was surreal being surrounded by so much talent and inspiration.
As a team, we have decided to give ourselves a months break, before we start to plan our next event - so sure to follow @inklinkevents on instagram (see the button below) and tiktok to be the first to know! Although I am not allowed to reveal anything, we think we have decided the theme for the next event…and lets just say you WON’T want to miss it!
Speak soon,
Lois x
P.S.. I am aware that the final part of Don’t fear the fire has been a long time coming…but rest assured it is coming soon (work, uni and this event have just been priority recently), so make sure to follow my socials and subscribe to my newsletter to read it!
